What is Vineyard Prayer?
The Lord asks us to “pray without ceasing” and that “by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Prayer, and praying for one another, is a Biblical command from God. Vineyard Prayer is a team of people who are actively praying for the weekly prayer requests from the connection cards, any prayer requests that come in during the week, and after the worship on Sunday mornings.
What is the Vision of the Prayer Team?
The Vision of Vineyard Prayer is to have an active Prayer Team that is praying faithfully for the people of the Vineyard, their friends and families, and Ithaca and beyond. As it says in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, “First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
How Can I Get Involved?
There are two ways to be involved. You can do one or both ways.
First, you can join the email prayer list. If you agree to be on the list, you will receive the prayer requests that are written on the connection cards in email format once a week. We’d ask that you faithfully pray for these requests and, if you feel led, follow up with the people who have made the request in a private conversation at church or an encouraging email.
Second, be someone who prays up front at the end of service. The host will say that “there are people up front willing to pray with you,” and it is our vision that at least 3 people each week would come down front so that we have a visible Prayer Team. We would only ask you to pray 1-2 times per month, on a schedule that works for you. We ask that you take Vineyard 301 to learn about the Vineyard Prayer Model. We will be scheduling a Vineyard 301 very soon, so please let us know that you’d like to join people who pray after service and we will contact you with the date. Please note that you do not need to have taken Vineyard 101 and 201 to take this class.
