The Vineyard Church of Ithaca was started in 1999 by a team of people largely made up of Cornell University students, and lead by Bob & Liz Wilson. Bob and Liz had moved to Ithaca in 1994 to start a campus ministry at Cornell, and in 1997 sensed that God was leading them to be a part of the Vineyard.
At that point, the Wilsons, James Cherian & about 12 Cornell students drove up to Syracuse each Sunday to attend services at the Vineyard Church in Syracuse. And while planting a Vineyard in Ithaca was not part of the original plan, it quickly became clear that God was directing this group to plant a Vineyard in Ithaca.
So in February of 1999, the Ithaca Vineyard held its first service in the 3rd floor of the Community School of Music and Arts building on State Street. While it took us a couple of years to really get established, over the past few years our church has grown rapidly, and while we still have a large contingent of Cornell and Ithaca College students, more and more people from the Ithaca area who were distant from the church have gotten connected here at the Vineyard!
In 2013, we welcomed our new Pastor Ward Davis and his family to our church.
And as a young, and growing church, our story is still being written…we hope you’ll consider being a part of it!
