Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is an organization that provides millions of meals per year for children in need around the world. This year, on the weekend of September 9th, over 1,000 people in Ithaca will be needed to help pack as many as 225,000 meals.
Last year nearly 40 people from Ithaca Vineyard participated in one of the FMSC meal packing events, which over the weekend drew more than 700 volunteers from the greater Ithaca area. It would be great to have 40 people (or more!) from the Vineyard again this year. Our goal is to have two meal packing times reserved. One would be on Friday evening (9/9) and the other on Saturday (9/10) in the late morning or early afternoon. Each packing event lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours, and just like last year, the event will be located at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ithaca.
Almost $1,000 was contributed from Vineyard attendees last year, but meeeting the 225,000 meal target is going to require over $40,000 in funding. Ithaca FMSC is already halfway toward this goal. You can help financially by donating in the following ways:
- A gift to Vineyard (cash or check payable to Vineyard) with FMSC on the envelope or memo line of the check.
- A check payable to FMSC and mailed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 149 Honness Lane, Ithaca, NY 14850.
- Donate online to FMSC here. ***Be sure you are donating to the Trinity Lutheran event #1109-55.
While we already have quite a few people from the Vineyard signed up to help, but we still need more volunteers to meet our goal. If you are interested in getting your name on the sign-up list or just receiving further information, visit our Contact Us page.
